Christian Sex:A Union Bonded by Marriage

Christians are the people who follow and live the teachings of Christ which are written in the bible. They strictly conform to these teachings, specifically on premarital sex. Although no one can find a verse in the bible that prohibits sexual intercourse, Christians consider this act evil. They believed that Christian sex is a sexual union between a man and a woman joined by the covenant of marriage.
Why Wait to Have Sex until Married
The bible views sex and marriage as an epitome on who God made humans to be. Humans are not just minds that live in a body. The mind and body are one. Engaging in a sexual act signifies giving of the mind and body to another person as a whole. Hence, the Bible considers marriage as two people becoming one. In other words, if a wanton person professes to love the other person through premarital sex that person disintegrates the union of his mind and body. Thus, it results to psychological and spiritual pains.
Other than that, the verses on 1Corinthians 6:18 clearly showed that the Bible acknowledges that sexual immorality is a sin. Thus, those who are believers of Christ stick to their beliefs that premarital sex is wrong.
God's Purpose in Creating Sex
Sexuality is God's most precious gift to His people, and it brings the man and the woman happiness and enjoyment of physical intimacy. This bond of intimacy is so strong that it is necessary to restrict it and control it. Thus, it is attached to the context of the marital covenant. The bible points out that the husband and wife has the freedom to show their love for each other and fulfill God's commandment on procreation.
Moreover, sex was not created for procreation alone; it was designed as well to give the husband and the wife a spiritual union. For human beings, sex is not just about making babies. It is about uniting the husband and wife in the most intimate union.
Ill Effects of Premarital Sex
No one can deny that getting involved in untimely promiscuous activities can lead to serious troubles. A study is not needed to show that teenage pregnancy, venereal diseases, AIDS, and emotional scar are some of the ill effects of making love outside the sanctity of marriage.
Sex before marriage is one of the major causes of teenage pregnancy. Internet statistics showed that fifteen to nineteen year old female teenagers are mostly the victims of this early unplanned pregnancy.
Sexually transmitted diseases also flourished in the community where people engaged in making love before marriage. Most of the victims that fall prey into these threatening diseases are teenagers who knew nothing about commitment. It is disturbing to note that about three million cases of teens affected by STD's are reported each year.
Aside from the physical pain that sex before marriage brings, it also leaves its victim an emotional scar.
Sex is an emotional experience which significantly affects lives in ways no one understands. After they made love outside the blanket of marriage, some couples convey feelings of guilt, embarrassment, distrust, resentment, lack of respect and inferiority.
The reasons and effects of engaging in intimate sexual relationship without marriage showed that God created sex, not for human beings' recreation and carnal desires, but to fulfill His commandment of reproduction and a strong bond of intimacy between married couples. In addition, God also designed sex to help humans embrace the importance of faithfulness to his spouse, and the physical ecstasy of mutual pleasure that sexual intercourse offers.
Being married as a virgin is never a mistake. It is one's way of living the life of a true Christian and giving life of the Holy Book's definition of Christian sex.
